Masjid ini pada asalnya dibina dan digunakan oleh masyarakat India Muslim di daerah Klang lebih kurang pada tahun 1910 R.M Pakir Mohammad seorang saudagar telah mula mentadbir masjid tersebut. Kemudian pada tahun 1920-an, masjid ini telah diserahkan oleh Sultan Alaeddin Suleiman Shah kepaa Saudagar India Muslim untuk ditadbir secara sah iaitu R.E Mohammad Kassim.
Masjid
ini juga dikenali sebagai Ar- Imam Kassim semperna kemahsyuran.
Beliau meninggal dunia pada tahun 1931 dan dimakamkan bersebelahan
dengan masjid atas perkenan Sultan.
